Our Lawyers – join the team

The Online Legal Clinic would not be possible without the commitment and dedication of our legal team, lawyers volunteering their time to provide essential legal services to people in need who would otherwise be without access to justice

Brixton Advice Centre is extremely grateful for their contribution. The current team is:

  • Charlie Roberts, Solicitor
  • Gabrielle O’Connor, Solicitor
  • Joseph Duggin, Solicitor
  • Joycelyn Amponsah, Solicitor Advocate
  • Marilu Peries, Solicitor (Employment Law Online Service)
  • Matthew Goddard, Solicitor
  • Nathaniel Gadsby, Solicitor

The Online Legal Clinic is coordinated by Harriet Thomas, Solicitor

Join the team

If you are interested in offering pro bono services please complete this form. This is an expression of interest – please see note below. We are particularly keen to hear from solicitors with Housing, Employment or Family Law experience. We also very much welcome applications from lawyers able to speak more than one language, so we are able to break down as many barriers to accessing justice as possible

Please note, the Online Legal Clinic is suspended from 6th September 2024 until we source additional funding for the Co-ordinator position. This position is essential as it allows us to provide proper supervision and management of the work provided by the Clinic. We apologise for the inconvenience and we are making every effort to ensure that the Clinic returns as soon as possible. If you would like to express your interest in joining the Clinic when it re-opens then please complete the form above.

In order to manage expectations, please be aware that we ask a minimum three-hour contribution each month, though many of the team provide much more than this. This is equivalent to the time you would spend if you were volunteering at one of our face-to-face advice sessions. It is comfortably enough time to deal with one or two Clinic enquiries each month and join the rest of the team in the occasional online meet-up. Given the Clinic is an entirely remote service, you can contribute from any location you like, at whatever time of day, and on any day of the week

The future

The Online Legal Clinic was, we believe, the first of its kind in the UK, providing pro bono legal advice services directly to the public but under a coordinated online model. We are grateful to the Walcot Foundation and Trust for London for funding the initial development work to the end of March 2021. We are currently seeking further funding and sponsors
